Lemon Summer Decor Lanter

Hello, all!

A funny thing happened here. Robyn and I both picked the Watermelon Decor Lantern as our blog post project. So after a session of scissor-paper-rock :-) we decided for Robyn to stick with the watermelon lantern and for me to pick another one. Lucky me Suzanne did a couple different ones, so I went for the
Lemon Summer Decor Lantern.

What a wonderful and fresh summer decoration.

You will need cardstock in the colors of
yellow
white
transparent sheets (for the panels)
I also used Embossing Powder to make the lemons shine :-)

Suzanne did a video on how to assemble the lantern, you can watch it here.

This week at Silhouette! May 3 2021

 Here is what's new!

I had a request for mermaids...  For a young girl.  So no sexy mermaids!  A designer need to know these things!  So I put on my super cute hat and it was tough, but I thinks she's pretty sweet. (At one stage she looked like Medusa as I tried to get hair waving in the sea....)  Although she looks the same in every format, there are quite a few differences for each structure or printable.  I think you could cover a lot of the party favours with this collection!

The print and cut calendar for this month is available with a dandelion quote - some of you will recognize it from the Garden Delight stamp set.  Fun to see it come to life again!

And of course I thought Mother's Day was the weekend after this, so I stayed up to work some long hours (post-mermaid!) and created the flowery Gift Card Box and side step hummingbird card.

All these designs are available on my Silhouette page: http://bit.ly/2oAR9e6 *

Making the Quietfire Fun Flowers

Meet the Quietfire Fun flowers! These flowers are so pretty and simple - they aren't supposed to look like any real flower, but they're fun and so cheery to add to a gift or just have on a table or window ledge.

The Fun Flowers are available on my Silhouette site here: http://bit.ly/2oAR9e6 (if you make a purchase by using this link, I *might* get a small commission!)

You make them by rolling the petal strip. Watch this short video for the details.  Happy creating!

Assembling the Quietfire Pop Up Box in a Card

Usually, I'm referring to a Card in a Box, but now I'm so confused.  This is a card in a box in a card!  I've just created a series of these for Easter and Spring and I'm using the Baby Bunny Pop Up Box in a Card to show you how it's made.  You can find all my Pop Up Box in a Cards at Silhouette.

Follow along on the video tutorial for all the details.  The box is constructed just like the Card in a Box, except there is a little extra to assemble: The box is inserted in a card base!  These cards are 5x7" and are all basically assembled the same with with variation in embellishments.

QFD Advent Fonts!

Fun QFD Advent Fonts using the extra colour elements.

Have  you met the Quietfire Design Advent Fonts?  They're a fun way to decorate on the countdown to Christmas!  You can use just one font, or mix and match!  Why not make them into stickers?

Here are the fonts available to date.  They're all available at Silhouette HERE!

Quietfire Design Advent Fonts at Silhouette

Each font should be treated like a dingbat font - A=1, B=2,  Y is 25 and Z is the quotation. To access the extra elements, use the extra keys noted with the font. If you want to use the extra elements in the Silhouette software, place them over their corresponding image in the monogram, rightclick and choose Send to Back of Layer or Send Backward. Check out the video on layering additional elements on YouTube: https://youtu.be/Vre31ZfSPwY and a tutorial about mixing and matching the QFD Fonts can be seen here: https://youtu.be/B6CHIk9Tmyw  (this one is using the fonts in a Word Document).

When you print these fonts large, they make great colouring pages!

If you have any questions, just ask!
Happy printing and Merry Christmas! Suzanne

Creating with the QFD Monogram Fonts

Hey there! It's Suzanne here and I wanted to let you know that I've created a video tutorial showing you how to use the extra elements in the QFD Monogram Fonts available on the Silhouette Design Store.

I chose to use the brand new Holly Flourish Monogram Font, but the technique applies to any of the fonts with the extra elements.

Supplies:
QFD Holly Flourish Monogram Font (#279847)
White cardstock
Colour printer (I'm not recommending the one I use!)
Silhouette Cameo
Walnut Hollow Basswood Country Rounds

It's easy and fun!  Here's the video.  If you're receiving this as an email update, CLICK HERE to go directly to YouTube to watch the tutorial.

Thanks for visiting.
Happy Cutting! Suzanne

Reindeer Flourish Home Decor

You'll be so pleased how quickly and easily you can make this project!  It's a new digital cutting file on the Silhouette Online Store this week. If you use other cutting machines, you can purchase the file there as an svg file!  Yay!

Reindeer with Flourish
I tried this with gold vinyl first, but the vinyl really didn't want to stick to the rough surface.  So I cut it from gold cardstock.  This is all done in less than five minutes.  All you have to do is add a few Christmas embellishments!

Supplies:
Reindeer with Flourish Silhouette ID 235411 (also available as an svg file)
Silhouette Cameo
Bazzill Gold Foil Cardstock
Jillybean Soup 6x6" wood plank

Don't forget to use the code in the sidebar to receive 10% off on the Silhouette site.

Carving a Pumpkin? Hmmm, Maybe Not!

There is still time to decorate pumpkins before the goblins come out!  And you don't even have to carve them!

Okay, I'll confess.  Carving a pumpkin is not my favourite thing.  It hurts my delicate little hands (have some cheese with that whine, Suzanne), there is the ever-present danger of losing blood if the knife slips (don't have a clue where those little-kid saw things went) and well, there is the goop inside ("flick the gick" is one of my favourite expressions....).  Yes, I'm a pumpkin-carving wimp.

However playing with my Cameo is right up my alley!  Here I've use mostly black vinyl to cut a couple of my older designs along with a brand new one and enlarged them a bit to fit each pumpkin.  My hands are happy, no blood was spilled and there was no flicking the gick.  And one of these babies was already getting soft, so there wasn't a chance that any carving was gonna happen there!  So go pick up a couple of pumpkins and have some fun!

{Did you know that you can buy my designs in svg format on the Silhouette Online Store now?}

Happy Halloween!

It's All About the Chocolate & Cookies - Sheri Holt, Guest Designer

I have another project to share today featuring the Happy Birthday Tag Box and Art Deco Floral Frame Card digital cutting files. [Note: svg files, usable by most digital cutting machines, are now available for these projects through Silhouette America]

Sometimes you just need a special little treat for someone and this project was SO EASY!! The hardest part was trying not to eat all those cookies!!!

The card measures 4.5" square and the tag box measures approximately 3.5"W x 1.5"D x 4.5"H. It is the perfect size for about 3 cookies or a nice sized brownie if you choose.
Happy Birthday Tag Box

I used each of the 3 sentiments from My Dark Side Is Chocolate. The first one for the treat box and then the other two for the inside and outside of my card.
My Dark Side stamp set

I used reversible cardstock with a great mix of autumn colors. I think it adds a little something special to the inside of the box but it would be just as lovely in a solid color!

Thanks very much to Sheri for creating this awesome project to share with us!  Do you need a cookie? I do! You can see Sheri's first post on Quietfire Creations HERE and more of Sheri's projects on her blog My Sheri Cards.

Go to the Quietfire Digital Blog (click HERE if you're receiving this by email) and the special code is right on the sidebar.  Make a note of the code, click the image and you'll go straight to the Silhouette site.  How cool!
Of course you should always check to see if Silhouette has a special for what you're looking for.

Happy shopping!

Sweet Critter Heart Pop-Ups Collection

It's Suzanne here today to share some timely heart-shaped pop-up designs which are available in the Silhouette store.  These are little hearts inside a big heart! This design is called Baby Heart Pop Up Heart Card (Design ID #113983) Okay, so not critters - and I promised critters.....

How about Butterflies?  This design is called Baby Butterflies Pop Up Heart Card (Design ID #113986).

Here is another version of Butterflies, Pop Up Butterfly Kaleidoscope Card (Design ID #129521) where they are flying in a much more orderly fashion!  It's fun to put some designer paper on the lower layer so it shows when the butterflies flex their wings!

Now we're getting to my favourite critters!  Here are the sheepies!  These were made several years ago for Easter.  This card is called Lamb Pop-Ups in Heart Shape (Design ID #55782) and I just adore these lambies!  I think they're my favs. I love their little ears.  Although....

Meet the buns! Here are the Bunny Pop-Up in Heart Shape (Design ID #55778).  Busy Bunnies are all ready to send to your favourite bunny-lover!
All samples were cut with a Silhouette Cameo.

If you're mailing these cards, the critters fold flat, just remind the recipient to fluff the critters.
Too much fun!
Thanks for having a look today!
Happy cutting, Suzanne

Merry Christmas Sneaker

Say Merry Christmas to the fit people in your life!
I created this sneaker in red and green for the season, but I'm kicking myself that I didn't add some little bells to the laces. You try it!

I've used my Sneaker design on the Silhouette Design Store and my AWWW Merry Christmas craft die.

Sneaker
This card was for Sarah Seads, my trainer.  I was going to make her a really pretty card.  Then I got real.

Merry Christmas and have an active New Year!

Holiday Snack Signs!

Santa Snacks Here Sign - Silhouette Design Store
A sign of the holidays?  Yes!  And holiday signs, too.
It's Suzanne here and I was working on some digital cutting designs last night (yes, this is what I do on Friday nights!) and uncovered these projects that I designed a couple of years ago.  Sometimes I just crack myself up!  I better take a set of these to our kidlets when we visit at Christmas.  It's important the reindeer know where to get their goodies.  They have to keep up their strength.

To make these, all you have to do is pop a piece of cardstock on the cutting mat and away you go!  You'll be all ready for Christmas Eve.

The Silhouette Sale is on now till December 5, 2016.  All designs are half price!  Yay!

So what do you leave out for the big fellow and his assistants?

Merry Christmas Card Project and Silhouette Sale!

Here is a little Merry Christmas digital die cut that I've had hanging around for awhile.  I finally made it into a card! I wanted to finish it so I could show you this easy project and share information about the big Silhouette Sale.  Not only are the machines on sale, but so are all the designs in the Design Store!  That means all of my designs - over 500 of them! - are on sale.

So once you have your machine and this cutting file, here is one way you can use it!  Vinyl is perfect for preserving those fine hairlines.  It's amazing!

Supplies:

Instructions:

  1. Form a 7 x 4.5” tent fold card from cardstock.  Cut a 6 x 3.5” panel from the same cardstock.
  2. Cut two 6.25 x3.75” panels from gold vinyl.
  3. Cut Merry Christmas from gold vinyl: Place one piece of vinyl on the cutting mat and cut Merry Christmas - I used cutting depth 1.  Carefully “weed” out the counterspaces and excess vinyl.  Keep track of the dot on the “i”!  Cut a piece of transfer paper large enough to cover the design. Remove its release paper and place it on the vinyl Merry Christmas and rub.
  4. Lift the Merry Christmas from it’s backing and transfer to the cardstock panel.  Rub lettering onto the cardstock and carefully peel off the transfer paper.  Voila!
  5. Use double sided adhesive to assemble the card as shown!

Now, I'm going to make a few more of these!  I hope this gives you some ideas for making your own cards.
Happy creating! Suzanne
