Cutie Pi Scrapbook Layout

Hello, Connie Nichol here today.  It was National Pi day yesterday on March 14, so I've missed it by a day.  Oh well.

This cut file is adorable, whether you are a chemistry geek like I am, you want a pi sign for National Pi Day or you need the word 'cute' for a layout or card.  It's available in the Silhoutte Store here, or if you have a different electronic cutting machine, email Suzanne@quietfiredesign.com to purchase the file as a svg cut file.  It makes such a cute page title.
To decorate the background, I used one of the new Quietfire Design heart shaped stencil manufactured by Elizabeth Craft Design.  I mixed molding paste with a few drops of Izinks pigment ink to make blue and pink, and applied it through the stencil (dry between colours so you don't smear the existing hearts).  While the molding paste was still damp, I sprinkled with clear ultra-fine glitter to add some sparkle.

That's pretty much it.  I added small scraps of paper, lace and fabric on the left side of the photo and called it good.  I like that the focus is on the photo in this layout.  It's a small photo so it would be easy to overwhelm.  Happy Scrapbooking!

Supplies:  Stampin Up cardstock, Ranger molding paste, Clearsnap Izink ink, Elizabeth Craft Design stencil, Silhouette Cameo, cut file by Suzanne Cannon, Brother sewing machine

Butterfly Bendi Card - Slainte - May The Wings

Yogi here today with a St Patrick's day card... I'm using parts of a couple Silhouette files. Click on any file image to purchase.

https://www.silhouettedesignstore.com/view-shape/156211  https://www.silhouettedesignstore.com/view-shape/56352 https://www.silhouettedesignstore.com/view-shape/76671

I'm also using a Quietfire Design Irish Blessings quote stamp "Butterfly Circle - May The WIngs" 5pce set

Opened the "Butterfly Bendi Card" in Silhouette Studio, ungrouped them and repositioned or removed some of the pieces, enlarged it so that my main back piece was 5" wide and overall height 7". It had to be cut in 2 sections and then spliced together at one of the fold line seams. Painted the white cardstock with Distress dabber "Shabby Shutters". I suppose I could have used colored cardstock, but I have a tendency to just use white and then alter...

Cut the shamrocks, enlarging them to approx1.5"w. Painted them as well with the shabby shutters and then went over it lightly with "Peeled Paint".

The "Slainte" was painted with "Lucky Clover" in a dry brush fashion. Cut a shadow layer and painted with "Forest Moss".

I colored the body part of the butterfly with a black marker. Applied adhesive to the wings and sprinkled with various glitters.

Stamped the quote (masking the author's name) using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed, Then stamped the author just below.

Assembled and adhered everything.

Sunflower Scrapbook Layout

Hello, Connie Nichol here with a scrapbook layout featuring a lot of sunflowers!
connie nichol, sunflower, quietfire design

This layout is totally about the Sunflower cut file from Suzanne Cannon.  I fell in love with it when I saw it, and what better page embellishment for sunflower photos?  I left the layout very simple because the sunflowers were just so darn pretty.

I cut the file out with a Sizzix Eclips 2 electronic cutting machine.  You can buy the svg file at Quietfire Designs, or if you use a Silhouette, the cutting file is available here in the Silhouette Design Store.

You can of course customize the colours and size of the flowers as you see fit so it is a very versatile file.  A single flower would make a great addition to a card.

I added a few small butterflies from Suzanne's Butterfly Bendi card cut file.  I just ungrouped the different elements in the file and deleted all but the smallest butterflies.

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrapbooking!

Popcorn Treat Box

Hi there!  Happy Valentine's Day!  It's Suzanne here with one of the new cutting files this week at the Silhouette online store.

Fill this adorable box with popcorn, cookies or Valentine hearts and you’ll have a winner on your hands!

Instructions:

  1. Download valentine for you popcorn treats box from the Silhouette Design Store (Design ID #179215).
  2. Ungroup all the elements once and remove everything except “for you” and its oval cutting line. Turn on the registration and print and cut with your Silhouette Cameo or Portrait machine.
  3. Turn off the registration and cut the other elements as your normally would. You may cut the additional panels from plain or decorative paper or leave them off or read the next step. Fold all perforated score lines and form box by adding adhesive to the tab.

  4. I decided I wanted panels with tiny hearts on them.  So I made the paper!  You can download my Valentine Tiny Hearts - Digital Paper for free this week from the Quietfire Design website HERE.  Save it in your Patterns folder in your Silhouette software. Turn on the registration marks and move the grouped side panels for the popcorn treats box onto the cutting mat inside the registration marks. Select the panels.  Click the pattern icon and choose the Valentine Tiny Hearts to fill the panels.  Print and cut.

  5. Adhere the panels to the side of the box.
  6. Assembling the bottom of this box is just like making the bottom of the Quietfire Lanterns and can be seen in detail in the video tutorial here. If you just need a quick refresher: At the bottom, fold the diagonal score lines on the irregular tabs outwards. Apply adhesive to the inside of that folded portion of that tab. Glue this irregular tab over the adjacent tab. Repeat with the two remaining tabs. By pushing your thumb up in the bottom of the box, you will now be able to fold your box flat. When it is returned to box shape, the floor of the box will “lock”.
  7. Layer and adhere the for you oval with the plain red oval and mount on the side of the popcorn box.
  8. Fill and give to someone special!  While you're at it, make one for yourself!

Happy Valentine's Day
and thanks for stopping by!

XO Love

It's Suzanne here today, getting ready for Valentine's Day!
I've paired up one old and one new design for this card. XO is from 3 Valentine's ago, but the Valentine Washi Sticker Planner Tape is brand new this week!

XO - Calligraphy
Valentine Washi Sticker Planner Tape
I love how it turned out and it was so easy to make!  Here is how you can make it, too!

Supplies:
Quietfire XO - Calligraphy, Silhouette Design #53715
Quietfire Valentine Washi Sticker Planner Tape, Silhouette Print & Cut Design #177784
Silhouette Cameo
Silhouette Printable White Sticker Paper
Cardstock in black, red and white
Glue Dots: Micro and Super Strength Premium Permanent Gluetape

Instructions:
  1. Form a 7" x 5" card base from black cardstock. Cut a panel measuring 5.75" x 4" from black cardstock and cut a mat slightly larger from red cardstock and another slightly larger mat from white cardstock.
  2. Cut XO - Calligraphy from red cardstock (I used American Crafts Smooth Cardstock)
  3. Print the Valentine Washi Sticker Planner Tape on Printable White Sticker Paper and cut.  Designer Tip: As an alternative, just print the design on regular copy paper and cut.  Use Gluetape to adhere to cardstock.
  4. Adhere the Washi Tape strips to the black cardstock panel as shown and trim excess.
  5. Layer cardstock panels and adhere together with Gluetape, then mount to card front.
Thanks for dropping by to have a look!
Happy cutting and creating, Suzanne
