Autumn Harvest Cutting Files!

I'm just popping in briefly to share my latest cutting files in the Silhouette Design Store!  My Mom loved bearded wheat.  I remember it filled a vase every year in the fall. I think she developed that love during the several years we lived on the prairies.  It was certainly more beautiful than tumbleweed, although as a pre-teen, I had a certain fascination with tumbleweed!

In addition to these brand new files above, here are a few of the more recent Autumn files.  They're all available on the Silhouette Design Store!

Thanks for looking!  Happy cutting!

Last Minute Halloween Creations!

OOOoooooooooo!  It's Halloween!  And there is still time to create fun and special little things!

Available on the Silhouette Online Store today are two more of our Halloween rings!  These are so quick and easy to make.  There are only 3 pieces to each ring and you really just need Glue Dots to hold them together.

And here are two little treat dishes.  Be careful!  You won't be able to just walk by without sampling a treat!

To those of you who saw my candy photo on Instagram and Facebook..... See?  I really did buy these for staging photographs.  And now I'll eat them.

If we're really "good", we'll have candy left over, so we'll swing into Autumn with another treat dish.  Bet you just can't have one!

Happy cutting!

Welcome Home Floral Birdhouse Decoration

It's Suzanne here today with a cute little gift idea.  I picked up this birdhouse hook at Michaels last time I was there.  For a change, I actually had a plan for it when I bought it!

The digital cutting file is available over at Silhouette today.

Here's how I did it!
  1. Open the brand new Silhouette cutting file and reduce the size to 3.5 inches.
  2. Place a piece of Teal Matte Vinyl right on the cutting mat and cut it with a blade depth of 2 (do a test cut on your own machine!) and it worked just fine!
  3. Weed out the counterspaces and excess vinyl and apply Premium Transfer Paper over the design and burnish.
  4. Transfer the design to the birdhouse and burnish in place.
  5. Create a 3/4 inch circle on a blank file in the Silhouette software and cut from Faux Leather Paper. Shade the circle with a pencil and adhere to birdhouse.
  6. Select mulberry flowers and adhere as shown.
Supplies:

Flourished Numbers!

This week over on the Silhouette Design Store, I've added some flourished numbers. They're ready to cut and perfect for anniversaries and birthdays!  Here is the full set of numbers which are all available now HERE.

These started with a request from The Fairbank Calligraphy Society in Victoria, BC for number forty designs for the 40th anniversary of their guild.  I had this idea in my head for a couple of weeks.  It finally leaked out onto paper, which then became a video!

I think these would make perfect additions to your cards and scrapbook pages - and I'm going to have to make a cake-topper some day soon!

The card is made from:

20 - flourished icon (enlarged to 2.75")
A Way With Words Happy Anniversary
Kaisercraft Mermaid Tales
Core'dinations Poseidon cardstock

Happy cutting!

I'd like to introduce you to a really handy collection of cards from the Silhouette Design store! To find them, all you have to do is go to my profile and type "doily" in the search box just above the Quietfire logo and all these sweet cards will show up.  Easy peasy!

Okay, so there is one missing from my image above....
Sorry lambie!  (ooooo, so cute with his little ear that flips up!  Kissy!)
These files contain the card base, too.  You can use my colour scheme or choose your own!

There are so many different Quietfire stamps that you could choose for the inside of these cards.  Check in to the Quietfire Gentle Thoughts stamp collection and look for the topic that you're needing. Choose one that's just right for the occasion!

Thanks for having a look!

Welcome to Quietfire Digital!

It's Suzanne here today to introduce you to the new Quietfire blog dedicated primarily to my digital designs.  Although we feature them occasionally over on Quietfire Creations, the cutting files were getting a bit lost amongst the rubber stamps and dies.  Now they have a place where they can shine!

Most of my digital cutting files live over at the Silhouette America Online Design Store.  If you're new to digital cutting, I frequently tell people digital cutting machines are sort of like an inkjet printer that cuts shapes instead of printing letters.

I love cut shapes, but I really don't enjoy cutting by hand.  You just can't imagine how excited I was when I first got my Silhouette Cameo and cut my first words!  The Cameo is an amazing machine.  It didn't take me long to approach Silhouette and offer my designs to them.  I was delighted they accepted me as a designer for their online store.  It's been over 2-1/2 years now (and over 400 designs) and I have learned so much about designing cutting files - and some days I think Illustrator (which is the software I must use to finalize all the designs) and I will even be friends!

A few months ago I received an email from Silhouette inviting me to their Summit meeting.  I was honoured to be one of a handful of designers to attend. Silhouette treated us to three nights' accommodation and meals (including a dinner cruise!) .....  at the Sheraton at Waikiki.  It's almost too good a location for a meeting!!!

There were over 100 people attending plus the Silhouette people.  It was wonderful to meet and talk to so many of them and re-introduce myself to those I'd met at CHA.  Wait till you see the new items they are introducing later this year!  There are lots of things I'm itching to get my fingers on to play with - and you're going to love them, too!  As soon as they make the information public, I'll share it on this blog.

See?  I told you this was a working trip!!
Posts here might be intermittent till we get going, but I know you'll find inspiration from the designers who are sharing their projects using the Quietfire files.  If you don't have a Silhouette machine, I have some designs on the Quietfire site in SVG format. If there is something you'd like to see there or if you need a commercial license for a design(s), just drop me a line! My contact link is in the sidebar.

If you don't have a digital cutting machine at all, then there is a whole amazing world out there waiting for you!  I hope I can be of assistance.

Thanks very much for checking out the new blog!
Happy cutting and creating!
