Remember to Breathe Scrapbook Layout

Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a scrapbook page featuring the 'Remember to Breathe' digital cut file and the Quietfire Design stamp 'There are two things we can leave our children'.  Perfect for those moments that take your breath away, like when your baby turns 16 and gets his driver's licence.  What a life changer.  I've gone from being the essential taxi driver to being pretty much redundant.

I will adjust.  But it was a memory that needed to be scrapbooked and it came together very quickly after I cut the title out of blue cardstock with my Silhouette Cameo.  I placed the title in the centre of the page and accented with a few gears and the beautiful Quietfire quote stamp.  So appropriate for the occasion and for parenting in general.  Thanks for stopping by, Connie

Relaxing Rocks

Well this just made my little calligrapher's heart sing. (It's Suzanne here with the singing heart)  Vinyl is amazing.  It holds such fine detail!  Why would I ever try to directly letter on a rock?  Especially one this small.  Guess what everyone is getting for Christmas next year?  You guessed it.  Rocks!

I used Silhouette white vinyl on the Cameo.  I shrunk/shrank/reduced the lettering to between 1 and 2 inches.  I placed a small piece of vinyl on the cutting mat and set the blade depth to 1 (the vinyl setting) and cut. After weeding out the excess vinyl from the negative spaces, I used the Premium Transfer paper to transfer the cut vinyl to the rocks.

Here are the files I used (and wow, you get Italic, Foundational and Modern Pointed Pen):

(links go the Silhouette Online Store)

There are other files I'd like to do, like Serenity, Smile, Welcome Home and more! And I need to design some more!

I tell you, I could go on and on and on.  But I need more rocks.....
I hope this gives you some ideas for decorating your own rocks.  You know you want to try it.

Thanks for dropping by.  Happy cutting, Suzanne

Remember Dad Forever - 15 Minute Wonder

Hi y'all, Robyn here, shepherdess of the Quietfire Design Team and die hard (pun intended) digital designer and cutter.

I put off buying a digital cutter for a long time, for lots of good reasons.
When the combination of Suzanne designing for Silhouette
and a really good sale finally had me pushing the
 Buy It Now
 button,
and I made my first cuts- trial by fire- Wedding decorations! I could only say,
"Why have I waited so long?!"
Now Miss Cameo and I are BFFs and I hope this new Quietfire blog devoted to digital cutting will enable you to join the fold!

Excluding design time, if you are familiar with your cutter, this card can be made in 15 minutes start to admire!

On the Mat
These are three separate files available in the Silhouette Store.
If you need sgv files some are available at Quietfire Design
and contact Suzanne for others not posted.
It can be difficult in the silhouette store to tell what size the designs are, so always ask if you have questions.
Remember, unlike dies, you can resize and manipulate them to almost anything you want.
For this simple card, I made no changes at all to the elements.
Ungroup and go!

This is what my working mat looks like.
Only the three elements I have on the white area will cut.
The flowers are available files too!

 *****TIPS*****
  • Use quality paper- at least 60 lb for Quietfire Design hand lettered designs with very fine thins!

  • If you live in a humid climate, iron your paper before cutting. Damp paper =poor cuts.
  • Use sharp new blades when cutting fine designs.
  • Use a mat just sticky enough to hold your paper down well.
  • Slow the  cutting speed down.
  • Cut with less blade depth and double cut.
  • TAKE YOUR TIME removing the die from the mat. Press down well on all the drop outs to help them stay behind.
If you are a newbie - take heart! we are all here to help you enjoy our files and your cutter!
