Hello Connie Nichol here today with a couple of projects featuring the Plumeria Flower Box cut file designed by Suzanne Cannon and available
here for your Silhouette or as an svg file for other electronic cutting machines.
It's the beginning of January, the days are short and there is a lot of winter left to live through so the thought of plumeria (also known as frangipani) flowers and tropical vacations is cheering! First, I put together the flower box. It is very cute and very quick and simple to put together. The cutting file includes a top and bottom for the box, the flower and the leaves. I cut the flower out of plain white cardstock and sponged it with Raspberry Distress Oxide ink to give a lovely pink colour.
The flower centers are flower stamens from Heartfelt Creations that I coloured with a bit of yellow alcohol ink, but you could use a cardstock circle, different types of beads, or as I'll show you shortly, the insides of the 'do not eat' silica desiccant packet.
Since I was thinking about Hawaii, and beautiful fragrant flowers, I cut a few extra plumeria flowers and did this quick scrapbook layout. The patterned paper is called Tropical Paradise by Heartfelt Creations.
I wanted to do something different for the flower centers and found a little package of silica desiccant in my craft room. I opened it and saw these cute little beads. I mixed them with just one drop of reinker, let dry for a few minutes and then glued onto the flowers. They turned out beautifully. Be sure to save your desiccant packets for crafting!

That's it for today. Try creating some of these plumeria flower boxes - they make beautiful little gifts and are big enough to slip some trinkets, sweets or money into. And be sure to upcycle your silica desiccant beads into flower centers. It's a fun frugal touch.
