Make the Freestanding Alphabet and Place Card Letters

Meet the Freestanding Alphabet and Place Card Letters. They're so quick and easy to make!

Ever wish your letters could literally stand out? This project makes it happen! We’re turning plain cardstock into bold, freestanding letters that can double as place cards. Decorate them with pretty papers, spell out inspiring words, or personalize them with names for a party table. With just a few cuts and folds, you’ll have a project that’s quick, fun, and guaranteed to impress.

These clever digital cutting projects let you create giant letters that actually stand up on their own! Decorate them in your favourite papers and colours to make eye-catching initials, monograms, or even spell out a whole word across a shelf or party table.

Want to take it up a notch? Add the Print and Cut panel to change your letter into a place card variation. It's a personalized name card that’s as pretty as it is practical. Perfect for weddings, showers, dinner parties, or even just jazzing up your desk with a word that inspires you (like Faith, Joy, or Cake—we don’t judge).

Whether you use them for decor, parties, or everyday fun, these freestanding letters are a delightful way to mix personalization with creativity.

In this tutorial, I’ll walk you through how to cut, fold, and decorate your letter so it can stand tall on its own or work as a stylish name card. It’s a quick, creative project that adds a personal touch to any occasion.

And if you make them large enough, you can add a flameless tealight inside.

But Suzanne, where do I find these digital cutting files?
