Poinsettia Flourish - Thanks - Thankful

 Yogi here today and I thought it was time to start making Xmas Thank You cards... This was a quick and easy side fold card, and even though it's a tooled flower, it mails with one regular stamp.


I'm using an electronic cut file from Suzanne, available on the Silhouette onLine store. Click on image to purchase.
 
And I'm using an A Way With Words die "Thanks" from Elizabeth Craft Designs, also available on Quietfire Design HERE   PS if you don't have this die, Suzanne has several Thanks words cut files available as well.

I'm using a sentiment and design element stamp from Quietfire Design. ("Being Thankful" 6pce set); ("Merry Christmas Poinsettia" 2pce set)

 
Opened my SCAL (Sure Cuts A Lot) software and the poinsettia file. Reduced the size to 10.75" wide and cut from white 110# Staples cardstock.

Removed from mat and inked the flourish area of the poinsettia with Versafine Toffee and embossed with Queen's Gold embossing powder.

Inked all the flower elements direct to paper with Distress "Worn Lipstick" mini pad. Hit the edges with "Candied Apple". Ran through my embossing machine using Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder. Hit the high points using a large "Aged Mahogany" pad.

On the large cut poinsettia layer, I fussy cut the lines between the petals - about an 1" worth. Very lightly misted the backs of all the layers with water and tooled the backs with a large balled stylus on a piece of fun foam. Turned the petals to the right side and pressed down in the center to raise the petals. When the petals were dry adhered all the layers together. Added a glob of PVA glue and sprinkled with Prills. Set aside to dry.


 Side folded my white cardstock to create the 5.5"w x 5"h card.

Adhered a piece of wood planks decorative paper edge to edge. Then adhered my poinsettia flourish.

Die cut the "Thanks" from a white cardstock, inked with Versamark and embossed with Emerald Creek "Silver Satin Pearl" embossing powder twice to get a really nice thick layer. Adhered to card front.


On the inside: Inked the poinsettia stamp with various Distress pads in appropriate colors. Stamped and then moved some of the inks around with a water brush.

Stamped the sentiment with Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed.

Holly and Berry Wreath Christmas Card

Hi, Connie Nichol here today with a very easy Christmas card using the Holly and Berry Wreath cut file designed by Suzanne Cannon and available in the Silhouette store here.

I recently went on a scrapbook weekend retreat with some of my pals, and this was my first project.  Honestly, it took about five minutes.  Once you've got an electronic cutting machine and a good cut file, life gets so easy.  I simply cut leaves, twigs and berries out of three colours of cardstock, and arranged it around a stamped sentiment.  Isn't this stamp pretty? It's a new stamp from Quietfire Design in the shape of a Christmas tree, and the little circles can be embellished with gems, or little dabs of sparkly glitter glue.  I also think the wreath would look very pretty with a few red gems or glitter, but I had absolutely bare bone supplies at the weekend retreat and didn't have anything sparkly in my stash.  Sigh.  Oh well, it shows you what you can do with just cardstock - still very pretty!  My friends were oohing and aahing.

Reindeer with Flourish

I tried this with gold vinyl first, but the vinyl really didn't want to stick to the rough surface.  So I cut it from gold cardstock.  This is all done in less than five minutes.  All you have to do is add a few Christmas embellishments!

Christmas Mail Room Sign/ Calligraphic Snowflake tag /ATCs and more! Sketching and Embossing technique.

To From and the outer border is sketched with a gold pen.

 After cutting, while still on the mat, sprinkle the ink with gold embossing powder.

Quickly take the tag off the mat and heat emboss.

ATC's can be traded as is, used as gift tags(punch a hole and add ribbon, or as I', join this year sent as greeting cards. There is plenty of room to write on the back!

With several sign designs to chose from you can create a whole flock of cards in no time.

Merry Christmas Wreath Home Decor

Here's a pretty quick and easy project.  You just need a few colours of vinyl and a 12 x 12" board and you're away to the races!  (The reindeer races, of course!)

You just need two cutting files to create this project, The Merry Christmas Wreath and the Flourished Christmas Tree Card. You can now purchase my designs on the Silhouette Online Design Store in svg format, so they can be used on other machines.  Yay!

The Merry Christmas Wreath was cut at actual size, straight from the cutting file. You need 12" wide vinyl for this.  (Note to self - don't buy 9" vinyl, just in case!)

Open the file and ungroup once and move the holly and berries to the side.  I adhere the vinyl on my cutting mat - don't remove the backing!  Tell the machine to cut matte vinyl and it tells you to set the blade depth to 1 and away you go!

I did all the weeding with the vinyl still on the mat.  This took a while, as there are some pretty delicate strokes. It always amazes me that the vinyl can hold those delicate lines! Once the weeding is completed, cut a piece of transfer tape big enough to cover the image and remove its release paper.  Lay it, sticky side down on the Merry Christmas Wreath and burnish lightly.  Pull the Transfer Tape up with the Merry Christmas Wreath stuck on it and position it on the wooden board. Burnish the vinyl onto the wood surface and carefully roll off the Transfer Tape.  This can be tricky if the vinyl wants to stick to the Transfer Tape!  Patience wins and the product is awesome!

Go back to the machine and cut the holly and berries and transfer them to the Merry Christmas Wreath on the wood.

When you open the Flourished Tree, you'll see it's a card.  No problem!

  Right click on the file and choose Ungroup.  Click off the images and then grab and delete the perforated score line.  Now right click on the image again and choose Release Compound Path, then delete the card outline.  Group all the tree elements or you might end up with a dog's breakfast..... I rotated the tree and placed it in the corner of the mat then resized the tree to about 4.75 inches tall.




Cut out the tree and weed out the excess vinyl.  Use Transfer Tape to place the tree in the middle of the Merry Christmas Wreath. Burnish the vinyl to the surface.





Um, I was scrolling down to write some more direction and suddenly realized, that's it!  It's done!  Now it's your turn! You'll be able to keep this for years - or give it away to a friend.  It's not an expensive project, that's for sure!  Happy creating!
